About NIPER

Welcome to NIPER Hajipur

The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Hajipur, was established in 2007 under the aegis of the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India, through an Act of Parliament — the NIPER Act, 1998. Conceived as a Centre of Excellence in pharmaceutical education and research, the institute was founded to strengthen the human resource base and foster innovation in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors, particularly in the eastern region of India.

In its formative years, NIPER Hajipur operated under the mentorship of the ICMR–Rajendra Memorial Research Institute of Medical Sciences (RMRIMS), Patna, which provided essential academic and administrative support until 31st October 2018. A major milestone was achieved on 1st November 2018, with the appointment of a regular Director, marking the beginning of a transformative phase in the institute’s journey. Since then, NIPER Hajipur has witnessed significant growth in academic programmes, research output, and infrastructure development.

The institute reached another landmark in 2021 when it was accorded the status of an Institute of National Importance (INI) under the NIPER (Amendment) Act, 2021. This recognition reaffirmed its pivotal role in nurturing skilled professionals, promoting interdisciplinary research, and contributing to the advancement of the pharmaceutical sciences ecosystem in India.

Driven by its mission to achieve excellence in pharmaceutical education, research, and innovation, NIPER Hajipur focuses on capacity building, cutting-edge scientific exploration, and technology-driven solutions that address pressing national and global healthcare challenges. Through its academic rigor, translational research, and collaborations with academia, industry, and government agencies, the institute continues to contribute meaningfully to the progress of India’s pharmaceutical sector and public health outcomes.
